Mission Support
First Presbyterian Church gratefully participates in God’s mission in the world through the following mission partners, whom we support financially and spiritually:

• Justin Miller, Pastoral Resident. FPC provides Justin Miller an opportunity to develop his skills as a minister within the context of our church’s ministry. Beyond preparing him for ordained ministry in the Presbyterian church, he also serves as the local mission coordinator, helping connect our congregation to a number of local initiatives. In addition, he and his wife, Marifer, intend to plant a church and school in Mexico once he is ordained. We look forward to this partnership.

• Kate Hill. Kate Hill currently serves Crossroads Church in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is the university liaison and campus outreach minister for the church, serving the University of Edinburgh. You can see more here: http://www.crossroadsedinburgh.com/who-we-are/the-community

• Rui and Ariel Damasceno. Rui and Ariel are a missionary couple in Natal, Brazil who serve by running a Christian elementary school, a vibrant outreach and street ministry, international mission project in Guinea-Bissau, and also work with Light in Action’s Tetelesai movie project, translating the movie into a variety of languages. You can read more about their mission here.

Brazil Mission
Since 2000 FPC has supported the mission of Christ in Brazil. Our efforts have developed into a beautiful partnership with the Independent Presbyterian Church of Felipe Camarão, a small congregation in a poor section of Natal, Brazil. Through this partnership FPC helped to build and continues to support the Bethel School, which offers education and spiritual learning for over 150 neighborhood children Pre-K through Grade 2. See the video from our latest mission trip here.

Ethiopia Mission
FPC has maintained a deepening mission in the Western Wollega Bethel Synod in Dembi Dollo, Ethiopia. A focus of our support since 2006 has been the Berhane Yesus Elementary School which offers strong academic and Christian nurture for 550 students from Kindergarten through Grade 6. We also support the Bethel Evangelical Secondary School, Gidada Theological College, and Bethel Tulama Elementary School. Check out this video that details our mission in great detail.

Montana Indian Ministries
Montana Indian Ministries is our latest mission partner. We first learned of the great need for the Gospel and Christian partnership on the Fort Belknap Reservation in Montana in 2019. We sent out a team, along with Pastor Con Sauls of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church, to install a basketball court on the Beaver Creek compound that houses a kids camp and retreat center that serves the reservation. Since then, our relationship has blossomed, with subsequent trips to help install roofs on buildings, carry out other building projects, and accompany Pastor Bruce Plummer on his powwow ministry tours. You can read more about the ministry at https://www.montanaindianministries.org/.

Spurgeon Hope Ministries
Spurgeon Hope Ministries was founded by Rev. Dr. Nehemiah Maji in 2018 to serve retired pastors, and the widows and orphans of pastors who died in service (either due to health issues, or were martyred for their faith at the hands of Boko Haram or the Fulani Herdsmen) in Kaduna State, Nigeria. Since then, it has expanded its work to provide direct relief to orphans in Kaduna State, as well as Christians fleeing persecution. Rev. Dr. Maji’s daughter, Favour, was able to come to study at King University in 2020, and serves as an intern at our church. Rev. Dr. Maji’s family was also directly threatened by terrorists, and they were forced to go into hiding. Since then, they have come to the United States for Nehemiah’s wife Gladys to study, and are currently seeking asylum. The ministry continues to go strong, and Rev. Dr. Maji continues to coordinate efforts with Spurgeon Hope Ministries and its board, as well as raise awareness in the United States about the plight of Nigerian Christians.
