As disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ we are a community of believers, called by God to glorify and serve God through worship and witness. Empowered by the Holy Spirit we reach out to share God’s saving love and grace with people in Bristol and throughout the world.

From the earliest days of Bristol TN, Presbyterians have gathered to worship God and serve the Lord. First Presbyterian Church celebrated 150 years of ministry in 2008. From its organization in 1858 and for the next century, the church was located at Fifth and Shelby Streets. In 1963 the church moved to its present location, one block off East State Street, at the corner of Florida Avenue and Spruce Street.

First Presbyterian Church gladly seeks to honor and further our rich heritage, joining in cooperative ministry through Holston Presbytery and with other Christian congregations in Bristol, reaching out to share God’s saving love and grace with people in Bristol and throughout the world.

As the vine is connected to the branches, so the followers of Jesus Christ are connected through Christ to almighty God, the source of abundant life. As we worship, serve, and learn together, we grow in faith, and the Holy Spirit deepens our resources for living faithfully in service to our Lord, Jesus Christ.

By the grace of God, the love of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit, we seek to provide an exemplary ministry of Christian education and spiritual nurture so that a growing number of people of all ages can find resources for growth in discipleship to Jesus Christ.
